Plant-based lifestyles are becoming increasingly common these days in Hong Kong. It’s not hard to find plant-based or vegan restaurants to satisfy your taste buds around the city. There are also a growing number of green grocery stores which offer conscious consumers places to shop without having to spend 10 minutes checking the labels. Batata Greens Veggie Store

Batata Green is Hong Kong's first veggie chain store, which offers more Asian style plant-based food products. The three branches of Batata Greens provide over 700 types of plant-based products including healthy food, frozen food, beverages, sauces, snacks, grains and noodles. If carbon footprint is something that you take into account, you will be happy to know that their factories are set up in Taiwan and Malaysia.

Apart from visiting their stores across the city, you can also order their products through their e-shop, HKTVmall or Green Common. Vegan Golden Fish Balls, Veggie Squid Balls, Vegan Burger and Ham Luncheon Meat are few of their popular items!

Veggie Labo

Veggie Labo is a plant-based grocery store in Sheung Wan. The shop offers a wide range of best quality plant-based and vegan ingredients from Japan. Veggie Labo is also the sole agent of Tao Organic Kitchen in Hong Kong. Tao specialises in making enzyme syrup, which is beneficial for gut health and strengthens the immune system. All of their raw ingredients are of the best quality and are collected from different locations in Japan. In addition, the store also runs Japanese plant-based cooking workshops occasionally, so keep an eye on their Instagram account (@veggielabo) if you’re looking for a creative weekend activity!

I Never Use Foundation Skincare (INUF Skincare)

INUF Skincare is a local cosmetic brand which offers all-natural, no artificial colouring and most importantly cruelty-free products. The shop has a wide range of products for you to pamper your delicate skin, from lip balm to essential oil. Apart from products for adults, INUF also has a product line, Children of the Stars, developed for babies, children and pregnant mothers.

Vegan Concept

Despite current popularity on vegan food products or ingredients, there isn’t any one-stand shop that provides vegan day-to-day products like cosmetic and health supplements. Vegan Concept aims to make a positive impact on animal welfare by making the green lifestyle more accessible to the public. All the products in the shop are either cruelty-free and vegan; and have all been selected and tested by the owner, Gary. Majority of the brands available in the shop are from the US like Timeless Organics and Birchrose + Co..
